Beginner Level Quickies and Suicide Quickies! - Attention all members, we are happy to inform you that we have recently added new Quickies to our site.  It is important to note that these Quickies range from the beginner level all the way to the more advanced athlete aka BAMF.  Hopefully, with the addition of these Quickies we can cater to a wider audience and promote fitness on a larger scale.

The beginner level Quickies can be found at the top of the Quickies page when sorted by "easiest".  Essentially, any Quickie that starts with the name "Quick" is intended for people who are new to the world of Quickies or are just starting to work out.  Ideally, beginners should start with these Quick Quickies and work their way up to the regular Quickies.

Suicide Quickies are the next level of Quickies.  Suicide Quickies are not meant to kill you, but are designed to push the limits of athletes who are already at a high level of fitness.  Like regular Quickies, these are intended to be completed in under 5 minutes.  If you can't do Suicide Quickies, don't worry about it, just continue with regular Quickies and gradually progress forward by doing one of the many variations until you get there.

Hopefully, these new Quickies will help you progress forward in training your mind, pushing your body, and conquering your goals.

*Note: CAUTION! As with all exercise equipment or programs, consult a physician prior to practice of Cal Workouts and stop if you feel faint, dizzy, or exhausted.

Quickies Videos, Exercise Videos, and more! - Attention all members, we are happy to inform you that we have recently added videos to our site!  The Quickies Team has been working hard to produce videos of Quickies and all the individual exercises within Quickies.  All these awesome videos can be accessed on the Quickies page via the exercise links on the Summary tab of each Quickie and the Video tab of each Quickie.

Essentially, we have included videos that describe how to perform each exercise within the Quickies and videos demonstrating each Quickie in its entirety.  After watching these videos, feel free to *try them out yourselves and submit a rating/review of the Quickie (we definitely appreciate your feedback).  Remember that you can also create your own Quickie and submit it on the Beta Quickies page.  Maybe in the future, you will be in one of the Quickies videos! =)

Furthermore, we have added some filters on the Quickies page to allow for easier navigation.  Hopefully, the sort by filter and display quickies by muscle group filter will allow you to find the Quickie that is right for you.

*Note: CAUTION! As with all exercise equipment or programs, consult a physician prior to practice of Cal Workouts and stop if you feel faint, dizzy, or exhausted.

The Quickies Team, Beta Quickies, and More! - Attention all members, we are happy to inform you that we have recently added a few new sections to the site relevant to Quickies.  These new pages can be accessed  via the menu bar underneath the Quickies tab.

Essentially, we have included information regarding how you can create your own Quickies with the potential to become an official Cal Approved Quickie.  We feel that this is a great opportunity for members to be creative and become more involved with the site and the exercises being developed.

Also of importance is the Quickies Team page, which provides information on each of the Quickies Team members.  It also includes details on when and where they do Quickies and how you can join the team.

New Quickies Page with Ratings & Reviews - Attention all members, I am happy to inform you that I have recently updated our Quickies page, which can now be found on the menu bar.  For each Quickie, we have included a summary, variations, ratings & reviews, and history.  The summary section for each Quickie is exactly that; it provides the target muscle group, exercises/repetitions it consists of, overall ratings for the Quickie, number of ratings, date created, and the creators.  The variations portion provides the different forms of Quickies, which includes the name of the variation, number of repetitions, and exercises involved.  Of particular importance is the ratings & reviews section.  For those of you who have performed a specific Quickie, I strongly encourage you to submit your rating along with a review so that new users can gain a better sense of the effectiveness and difficulty of that Quickie.  Finally, the history section just brings forth something different, as it shares a little information on how the Quickie came to be.  Hopefully, the new information and layout shown on the Quickies page will provide you with a more user friendly experience when exploring the world of Quickies.

Weekly Mileage Breakdown - Attention all members, I have recently added a new feature that will allow you to calculate your daily mileage based on your desired number of miles and days to run in a week.  Now you can plan out how many miles you should be running on a daily basis.  Hopefully, this tool will help you determine your daily mileage ahead of time and get you that much closer to reaching your weekly mileage goals.

This new tool can be accessed via the menu bar: Members -> Training Tools -> Wkly Mge Breakdown.  Enjoy!

Cal is up and running! (literally) - Hey everyone!  I know it's been a while since I've last posted anything, but I just wanted to keep you all updated (specifically about my health).  It's been a little over 6 months since my knee surgery and I'm doing a ton better.  My physical therapist says that I'm progressing well and that I'll be discharged soon (from physical therapy).

As of 3 weeks ago, I was cleared to start jogging/running.  Today (technically yesterday) was my 12th day back of running and I'm feeling great!  I just finished a 3 mile run in 22:03 with my last mile at 6:01.  I know what most of you are thinking, "Cal, that's hella slow, quit bragging!" or "Cal, don't push it, you don't wanna get re-injured."  Whichever one is you, I know I know I know.... I'm AWESOME so don't worry about it! haha, I joke... I'm definitely trying to gradually get back into it and taking all the precautions necessary.

On another note, time is a ticking... everyone has about 6-8 months left to surpass me... then after that, it's racing time!!

Training Tools and Summer Training - Attention all members, I have recently added a few new tabs to the Members menu bar: Training Tools & Summer Training.  Under the Training Tools tab you will have easy access to the two new features (Pace Calculator & Max Lift Calculator), along with the all important Running Calendar feature.  Under the Summer Training tab you will have access to the Summer Training Schedules, which are primarily for the high school x-country runners that I coach during the summer, but it will also be available to all Cal Workout members.  Also under the Summer Training tab is a list of Summer Training Rules that will help in having a safe and successful running off-season.  Hopefully, these new additions to the Members menu bar will help you in your future exercise endeavors.  Enjoy!

Pace Calculator - Attention all members, I have recently added a new feature that will allow you to calculate your mile running pace and speed (mph).  Now you can keep track of how fast you are running and add it to your notes section.  Hopefully, this new feature will allow you to better learn your pace.  Feel free to use the pace calculator for more than just running, i.e. cycling, swimming, and walking.  Enjoy!

Cal is having surgery today - Hi everyone!  For those of you who don't know, I recently re-tore my ACL and will be having ACL reconstructive surgery today.  I'll be on crutches for 6 weeks and it'll be about 6-9 months for full recovery. That means A LOT of physical therapy, dieting, and discipline for a speedy recovery.  This also means I'm giving everyone roughly a year to surpass me in everything - running, weight lifting, quickies, and being an all around BAMF.  It's Round 2, wish me luck!
